Let us know how you get on...Thanks everyone I might give it a try, I have other batteries these 1.3 ones came with a drill and impact driver I had 2 in the set and are old I suppose now but I also have 2 newer 2.0 batteries.
Yep will doLet us know how you get on...
I had a DW battery 4ah that was over worked and wouldn't charge or illuminate the led.
I took it apart and used a very small flat blade screwdriver to press the top of each battery call... second to the last battery there was a hiss and presumably some pressure released (saw it on YT) reassembled and all has been well with battery in terms of usage and charging.
Dead Dewalt Battery Revival
I have a dead battery that will not charge and came across this hack to revive it. Before I try it is that a reason not to. Its only a 1.3 and I have had it a number of years.
Thanks I tried it attached to another battery for about 1 min and it didn’t work, maybe i need to leave it longer. As with some smart lead-acid battery chargers, if the voltage across the battery, falls below a certain level, then the charger, will refuse to even try to charge them. Putting one battery across the other, brings the voltage up, of the 'dud', then allows it to charge. So it might work, or might not if it has dead cells, beyond salvation.
A similar idea works with NiCad cells. These develop 'whiskas', which short the poles together, preventing them taking a charge. They can be 'repaired', by applying a voltage across them, with a large enough current, to burn the 'whiskas' out, like you would blow a fuse. I've succeeded with that, a number of times.
