Sorry to ask such a basic question - I've "searched" but couldn't find an answer!

I recently purchased the DeWalt XRP DC988L1 18V 2.0Ah Li-ion Cordless Combi Drill: http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-xrp-dc988l1-18v-2-0ah-li-ion-cordless-combi-drill/74113

I'm now looking for a spare battery and I see DeWalt have changed the style of their batteries to: http://www.screwfix.com/p/dewalt-dcb181-xj-18v-1-5ah-xr-li-ion-battery/74382

Is this the right battery for my drill?

It says "compatible with all XR Li-ion DeWalt 18V tools" - does this include XRP Li-ion?

Thank you

No, they are 2 different type of fitting, the XRP is the older style range where the battery pushes up into the handle like this...

The newer style XR tools have batteries that slide onto the handle as shown in your second link

My guess is screwfix will have a lot of the older XRP tools on offer soon so if you don't mind slighty older kit they'll be some good deals knocking around soon.....if not now!

yep definately wait for prices to drop or buy a complete kit for little more than a battery price then you will have 2 tools and the charger for the li-ions as the old charger wont work

and i do hope you bought it when it was either the £125 or £149 and not the £250

Thanks Guys!

I "only" paid £149 although I didn't tell SWMBO that ;)

It's only for DIY use although I've got a big project coming up soon (extension and new kitchen which I hope to be doing a lot of myself) so I thought it would be useful to get a spare battery.

I didn't think about getting some extra tools as well......mmmmmm..... there's an idea :D

Cheers
