My boiler is oil, and 20 kW, my radiators are well under 20 kW each, I can control each area independently with the programmable TRV heads, but how efficient is a pair of 2 kW radiators likely throttled back, running on a 20 kW boiler?

First the very simple, if I put an oil filled radiator in the living room, rather than use the central heating, would it cost more or less?

Having realised it was cheaper to use the immersion heater in summer to using central heating for DHW, I wonder about the whole idea of central heating.

Clearly if I use the open grate and burn the excess wood I have around the place, that will be cheaper, but really don't want all the dusting, carrying of ash, and wood in and out of the house.

One fill of oil, does not quite do the whole winter, so something which made it last a little longer, would be good.

What I was looking at, is maybe one storage radiator, with only 5 hours of charge, it would not last the whole day, but would mean central heating would only run say 5 pm to 0:30 am.

Just a thought, but seemed worth a little more thought specially with price of heating oil going up.
