Decking is different colours

Hi all,

I've been laying about 30m2 of decking in my garden this summer and it's taken absolutely ages!

The problem is however that it was red hardwood. The deck that was laid at the begining has weathered and is now a totally different colour to the boards that went down at the end.

Is there any way of getting all the boards back to the same colour? I've also read a number of pieces which say that using stain is a big no no when it comes to decks and that they should only be waxed/oiled - any advice would be much appreciated.

most likely yes but will also start to crack and split by then if not treated and so need to be treated as soon as possible.

It's hardwood - you don't have to treat it if you don't want to.

It's still best to treat wood regardless of soft or hard - that's the nature of wood, it should always be treated.

One of the attractions of hardwood is that you don't have to. You can leave it to weather.
