The previous owners of our house have managed to get numerous spots and splashes of deep brown paint over the doors and sills of the conservatory.

Just wondered if there was a product that would remove the stains without discolouring or damaging the PVC.

Many thanks for any help.

Try some PVC window restorer - its a bit like a fine T-cut - that will do the trick. Its good stuff. Most sheds sell it.

Thanks WabbitPoo

Will certainly give that a try.

Saw some on Amazon this morning so will order.

What solvents have you tried?

White spirit/turps subs/paraffin - all the same thing.

Meths.

Orange terpenes (sold as environmentally sound chain cleaner for bikes).

Acetone - nail varnish remover - might attack the plastic.

Paint or Evo-stik thinners - mostly ethyl methyl ketone and acetone.

Thanks to you both for your replies.

The T-cut arrived today from Amazon so tried a patch on the sills. With a little elbow grease also applied it's taking off the paint. Really removing old scratches and marks too and bringing the PVC up a treat. :)

The added ingredient of elbow grease will be helping. :D

Acetone & MEK dissolve quite a lot of things.

When I were a lad paint stripper contained methylene chloride - nasty stuff.

this can be done with some UPVC installers cleaner, not sure what is is called...

BUT if you use something else be careful as the UPVC will do dull....
