Default mail client not installed?

Nothing to do with smileys this time

When I click on a email link the error message comes up as default mail client not installed.
Could any one explain what this is please

Thanks for the link
I have followed the instructions but my OE will not repair itself for some reason.
Would it be best to uninstall OE6 and reinstall it.
I have downloaded the updates for it at Microsoft.
