Hi

Our bathroom window has seemingly become permanently locked! The key turns but the button won't push in to unlock it.

Photo attached... Any tips to get it open please?

Perhaps corrosion have you tried a good squirt and soak of WD 40 or similar?

Sorry out of ideas apart from attacking it with some form of brute force.
I assume it has worked before and you are not new to the house as some buttons push in to lock and are supposed to pop out when the key is turned, if so light tapping with the key in both positions might help.

Faulty handle at a guess, push button failure. Brute force required to lever it open then change the handle

Yes brute force to open it and new handle required, About £5 from most diy places.
Before you do, It may be worth giving your installer a call. Although generally the moving parts are only guaranteed for 1 year some company's will still do it free of charge to keep customers happy and keep them coming back for future work.

Its basically just a little black plastic wedge shaped bit at the back of the handle. You may be able to push it with a scraper or if not just grab the handle with 2 hands, Push the button as hard at you can and just force it open.

I'm built like a rugby player so I can lever the handle off with one hand, just force the handle open maybe with a short pipe to aid leverage
