I'm looking at getting one of the 18v Ryobi drill kits a hammer combi drill and angle drill. http://www.coopersdirect.com/pageview.php?page=show_product&ecommerce_stockcode=RYBCCK182001

I'm a bit confused on the Ryobi two speed hammer drills though as I'm finding listings for RYOBI CHI-1802M and Ryobi CDI-1802M. It seems to be a bit odd Ryobi selling two very similar spec'd drills. Is the only difference the drill speed ranges?

Thanks

May have something to do with the CDI-1802M being the bare unit and a 0ne+ drill and the other is the full package, doesn't specifically say one+ either however it will probably use ONE+ batts fine. There are slight differences in Torque too.

The CHI is faster, has Forward and reverse and comes with 2 batteries and the charger.

the chi is an updated version and dosnt have the gimiky 2 spirit levels at the back on top on the black slide off section that contains the driver bits
as well as the other tecnical differences ;)

they are both one plus compatable the only ones that won't fit one plus use the slide on battery with the single release button on top of the battery

The CHI-1802 http://www.tooled-up.com/ManProduct.asp?PID=141853 can be bought bare bones (with a m at the end of the code)

Thanks Big-all I did wonder if the CDI was just an older model.

There is the 3 speed version, but I can't seem to find that as part of a hammer combi drill and angle drill kit anywhere.

i have never seen the 3 speed as part of a£100 "twin" deal or any deal in fact
although having said that the impact driver of simmilar price is now avalable in a £100 deal at screwfix

I had looked at the impact kit, but think the angle kit would be of more use to me tbh.

if you wait long enough you can get a circular saw or jigsaw as part off the package from one off the regular internet shops

Is it practical to use the impact driver as a general screwdriver? I notice it doesn't come with torque settings.

Takes a while to master as its more difficult to judge than a regular driver. But once you start getting a nack for it you will be using it for everything including drilling! I have a Makita one and its much lighter than a normal driver so easier on the arm too.
