I've just had 2 single extensions built of one room, the kitchen. The height of the old ceiling is 2.75m, the new extensions ceiling joists and RSJs are 20cm lower.

Basically I'm undecided whether to lower the old ceiling so all three are the same height giving a uniform appearance, or whether to box in the RSJs and have different ceiling heights. All 3 areas are combining to form an open plan kitchen diner. The old room is 4m by 4m, extension 1 is 3m by 4m, and extension 2 is 5m by 2m.

Any thoughts

thanks Jon

If you are changing heights & its not just an rsj between 2 rooms then 2 heights will look ok.
Its all about cost & what you think.
I had a new kitchen ext. added & had the old ceiling lowered, because an rsj was added. & the old ceiling was only about 4ft.
Its about what you think will look best...Dont be regrettting your choice once done.
