dimmers in kitchens

whats the point?

people ask about dimming their halogens in kitchens why? in a food prep area you need light and lots of it, i can understand say in the bedroom or lounge but why kitchens

mood lighting in open plan living quarters where the kitchen is visible from the lounge part..

you don't want a dark corner and you don't want full blazing lights when you're entertainig guests..

so subtle dimmed lighting is the way to go..

mind you, I would be more inclined to install 2 sets of lighting, one full bright for working in there, and another with lower power lamps for mood lighting.. ( or split the work lighting into 2 or 3 sets so you can have just one on.. )

comes from the olden days of turning the lights off and lighting candles to get the missus "in the mood".. there's something erotic about a man making fire.. it's something primordial..

it was later replaced by turning the main lights of, and covering the table and side lamps with fabric to subdue the light..

and now it's dimmers and pre set lighting "scenes.."
