discriminating against travellers

Yeah but , as I said , who are we to dictate to others who choose a different way of life , that our way is the only way?
They are perfectly entitiled to live whatever life they lead providing that they don't cause problems for those who choose not to life their way, and contribute towards the cost and maintenance of the facilities that they choose to use. Thus if they wish to watch a TV then they need to pay for the electricity and the licence to do so. If they wish to use public roads, then they should pay their share of the taxes required to maintain these public highways. etc etc

I'm trying, but it's difficult in my caravan in this Tesco carpark

Although you have a valid point about wondering why this thread seems to single out travellers, why shouldn't we discuss the issues relating to a specific article in a specific newspaper?

I suspect that the clock does indeed suggest that we are indeed soon to be diverted from the direction of this thread or indeed some interesting lines of legitimate enquiries :?

Who are we to dictate that our way of life is the only way of life?
There are more none traveller thieves in our society than there are in theirs.

I haven't seen the figures to know what the ratio of thieves in a traveller camp is although I expect it'd be considerably higher than in "our" community, as they are generally accepting of crime against non-travellers.

About their way of life? Don't have a problem with it as I imagine many dont'. If they want to travel, so be it. Only when it impinges on our way of life does it become an issue. An extreme example is saying people who take drugs should be allowed to live their life how they want.

Being a Gypsies is more about lifestyle choices than race.
Although there are many clear exceptions to this which have lineage over the centuries.

In which case "they" are setting themselves up as an alien race and by definition inviting "racism" by being "racist" against non-community members. Quid pro quo.

Good point. Something is only a problem when it becomes a problem, if you catch my drift

Indeed. And alongside all the empirical evidence we see of traveller behaviour, have you ever seen police camera action shows where the pursuit of a stolen car ends in a traveller camp - what happens next? EVERYONE decamps from their caravans and crowds round the car making it impossible for the police to identify who was driving.

Even in inner city sink estates this kind of thing would not happen, with grannies, uncles etc taking part.
