I've put hardboard down rough side up, do i still have to use underlay. I do have a pack of that green stuff.
Do i still have to use underlay with hardboard done ?

Yes you do, carpet needs an underlay unless your carpet is the foam backed stuff, not sure if they still sell that anymore though.
