Dodgy Wiring

Obviously ownership of the fence is a crucial factor.
It is.

However, having said that, unless such 'rights' (or prohibitions) are defined in 'deeds' etc., I'm not convinced that ownership of a fence necessarily gives the owner a right to attach things to 'the other side' of the fence, particularly if they overhang property which is not theirs.

Kind Regards, John

Usually when installing a fence, you have the nice side, and the crap side.

The crap side is where you see all the posts and horizontal rails.

Usually, the owner of the fence should have the crap side, and his neighbour should have the nice side.

I wouldn't be happy with all that unsightly wiring.

I don't know what type of person you are, whether you would just rip it all off and toss it over his side, or approach it calmly - where there is a 50-50 chance nothing will get done.

If you get to paint your side, I think I'd be painting some harmful chemical on the cables when he's not looking.

Views/interpretations about that seem to vary and, again, that issue will sometimes be addressed in 'deeds' etc. I certainly know of cases (including one of my fences) where, with mutual acknowledgement/agreement of both owners concerned, the owner has the 'nice' side.

It is entirely the owner of the fence's decision as to whether (s)he has the good or the bad side, after all they are paying for it. Usually the good side will face the owner, because construction of that type of a fence is easier that way - avoids the need to trespass onto a neighbours property.

I'm a little confused - were some of those photos taken at different times, since they don't all seem to be showing exactly the same situation?

Kind Regards, John
Indeed yes... some are taken with the trees in full leaf and some are taken after OP has attached some sort of green covering and installed a shed.

I wonder if OP has thought about tapping into the cables for his own shed?;)
