Does a concrete lintel need to bear on a full block?

Hello,

I want to widen a doorway from a single size opening to be 1500mm - I have had structural calcs done and have been advised of the right lintel to use.

From what I have read the 1800mm lintel should sit on a full block on each side?

"bear on a full block, and be level and bedded on a solid bed of suitable mortar"

https://nhbc-standards.co.uk/6-supe...roofs/6-3-internal-walls/6-3-4-masonry-walls/

I have noticed that on one side of the opening the existing lintel is sitting on half a block - I was hoping to take the old lintel out and put the new lintel in the same place on that side, but I'm not sure if that will be ok with building regs?

Would I need to take some of the blockwork out and re-build it so that the lintel would sit on an uncut block?

Thanks,

Dean
