Domestic EIC question

Just a quick one,

On the NIC domestic EICs (and maybe others) one of the boxes is for 'number of smoke alarms'

I assume this only relates to mains powered ones, or does it include battery only?

I don't remember ever bieng taught either way

I take it to mean mains ones as installed per building regs and mentioned in BS7671.

I N/A this unless the EIC is for a new build or major rewire etc.

I rewired a Minor once... Loom caught fire in the bulkhead. Unfused reversing light...

It's for the number of smokes you've installed as part of the job you are certifying, whatever the category. Naturally the EIC would be accompanied by a BS5839 B-F cert which would detail exactly what type were installed.

You'd probably be in the minority already for actually issuing an EIC anything to do with the smokes on it would be a bonus...
