So, he's gonna stop cheap steel coming in, so he protects american jobs............what a great concept ..................a politician thinking about his own!!!!!................and what have we got in response?.............we'll stop cheap berries and cheese coming in, jeez, that's gonna have him worried!!
But...................I notice he hasn't mentioned Chinese steel and isn't it China that have bought the American trillion dollar debts???????

yes, he's going to put up the price of steel in US and restrict the supply.

Not such great news for the makers of cars, tin cans, motorbikes, oil drums, pipelines, bridges, Reinforced concrete, industrial sheds....

He policy I think is you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours
He wants to deal with independent country's.

He don't like dealing with a cartel run by one country (Germany). Each individual country one at a time

Is he gonna put up the price?....................surely it'll hold at the american rate, and I assume America uses more steel products internally than it exports, therefore more jobs will be saved than lost? and of course there's all that lovely Chinese and Indian steel???

Trump wants to deal with individual countries because they are relatively small and weak and likely to give in to US demands. He doesn't like dealing with a strong trading partner (there is only one) and doesn't know how to do it.

US negotiating policy has been described as "we fax them our terms and tell them to sign"

The US beef or what ever with China may also have some thing to do with what the Chinese are doing in the south china sea ??

constructing Islands ect for military purposes . afaik they are in dispute with several counties in the area over there policy

But the US have some military clout and are not going to be told where they can sail there fleet or except new Chinese territorial waters

Is he gonna put up the price?

If the American steelmakers could profitably supply at the world price, they'd be doing it. They can't. American prices will be higher. And there will be less supply.

It will put 1cent on the price of a can of beer, and that is what really counts, to the red necks who vote Trump .
That is what the spokes/man /Woman / person said on RT this morning.

An American car weighs a lot more than an empty beer can.

So does a load of rebar.

How many cents per ton do you forecast?

He's put a 25% tariff on the steel and 10% on aluminium.

high-quality steel for knives, surgical instruments, stainless that doesn't go rusty, screws that don't break, costs extra and often comes from Europe.

If beer goes up 1 cent a tin and the tax revenue increases exponentially and more Americans have jobs then he's done the right thing!!
On a seperate note, I believe the Chinese are a nation of extreme workers, now that they have technology in their back pocket, they will rule the world in 50 years, and I doubt that will bode well for us lot

The Chinese subsidise their steel makers so that they can sell their product cheaply abroad, it is called market socialism.
The state and the private sector work together to generate wealth for the nation as a whole, rather than the private sector controlling the state the state controls the private sector and allows them to generate wealth but makes sure that the wealth generated is fairly distributed which means people should be allowed to accumulate wealth but not at the expense of the nation's well being.

probably, but keeping workers in jobs, paying tax and not claiming 'workers comp' will help to fill the treasury's empty coffers
