Door between kitchen and conservatory

Hi all,

We have a conservatory (Wife calls it an orangery....), it gets cold in there as it has a glass roof and there is no point putting the heating on to warm it, we only really use the room during spring, summer and Autumn, during winter we don't use it at all.

Separating the two rooms is an internal bifold door, this door lets a lot of cold in, curtains do help but I am thinking of the following solution.

Wood batten out with uprights etc
Fit those wall panels with Kingspan or similar glued to the back
Fix everything so it can be removed and stored when spring comes

Does this sound ok? Any other solutions I could use please? The whole door folds and opens into the kitchen (from where the pic is taken) or just the one door to the right opens which will be ok for the winter so I would need a solution to open up the panelling just like the door does.

Those doors look relatively chunky, I’d draught proof the hell out of them in conjunction with decent curtains etc.
I don’t think the hassle/looks/weirdness of a removable thing is justified by how much difference it’d make…

Maybe look at putting in removable secondary glazing for the winter...

What's the cost, convenience and aesthetics of doing all that instead of just putting the heating on low for a few hours to take the cill off and stop the draughts?

Thay's what I was thinking, Unless there is a room stat that conrols the heating for the whole house in there I wouldn't think there would be much of a saving by switching it off. Leaving it on may also reduce the risk of condensation becoming a problem

I do have a rad in there with a Hive TRV so I can control that one room if needed, I will give this a try, thanks
