They're flush hinges. Do I need to plane a leading edge?

You might find the door lining isn't completely perfect and might have a slight bevel on it cause who ever fitted it never intended for a door to be fitted

Is it bouncing back?

Are the two hinges nice and square?
Yep.

To cut a leading edge is it like this? With more taken off on opposite side to hinges knuckle. Obviously my angle for plane is exaggerated

That's right , start with a shallow angle and keep offering it up until it's sorted

Have you popped into the wardrobe to see where it is bouncing?

How do you do that exactly? Feel on doir where's most resistance?
Regarding the flush hinges ; I put them half mm over there usual position. I was told that helps prevent binding

Just use your eyeballs , which ever part of the door touches the lining first is where it's binding

Fairly obvious the hinges are not lined up straight with door and frame.

I thought that too
, that's why I asked the op if they were square and he said they were?

Just read your comments. If the hinges are bent does that mean the metal's bent? Nothing to do with lining them up properly on door lining?

What we mean is, in the photo the top hinge is crooked it should be perfectly parallel to the door and the bottom should be exactly the same as the top hinge , if either or both are out that will cause you issues

I deliberately put the hinge hanging over the edge of the door about 1mm. I was told to do this with flush hinges or they bind. Maybe I misunderstood.

These flush hinges have confused me. They're different to normal ones ; the part of hinge on the door is slightly hanging over i know, but how about the part on the door lining, is that lined up wrongly too?

You don’t appear to be using screws in the hinges which will cause problems .
