Hi, newbie here

I have got a leak in a flat dormer roof which my roofer says was originally copper but there is loads of water ingress and he recommends a total relay using felt (approx cost 450 quid) or lead (approx 1000 pounds)

Does that seem like a fair estimate?

The total roof size is probably 2.5 metres by 3.5 metres

I hope your Moniker refers to your Work Ethic and not the Size of Your Member

lol:)

Neither I'm afraid

Now had two wtritten quotes @ 2000 and 1400 quid

Is this still in the ball park for a reasonable quote?

I think a job that size would never be done for less than 2000. Get the professionals in to quote you. A leadwork specialist will cost more but do a better job than a roofer as we are trained to do it, Not only that but we can lead burn and I have never met a roofer that can leadburn or boss properly.

Not trying to insult any roofers by the way!!

Funny you should say that.....I met a roofer who did an excellent job re-roofing and also burned up 2 slates for soil pipes with a miniature kit  I`m putting all my tools up 4 sale on fleebay
