...dispite his claims to be in the industry he is making mistakes which make it very doubtfull he is a properly qualified sparky...

Sadly, this is not always a good indicator. A lot of sparks who qualified aeons ago are way out of date and some have evolved their own unique interpretations of the laws of physics. Qualifications + experience [doesn't always ]= competence.
