I'm thinking of swapping out the side light in my fridge for downlighters. Couple of questions:

* Would you go for GU10 or MR16?
* What would be the best way to dim them?

So you want to be able to dim the light in your fridge?????

I am sooooo behind the times - when did dimmable fridge lights become the latest trend???

GU10s are 240v which matches your mains supply. MR16s are usually 12v (24V also available) which does not match your mains supply so you need additional equipment either a transformer or switch mode lamp driver.

Dimmers are available in both cases but dimming halogen lamps can reduce their life (long thread on this recently).
But as has already been said dimming a light in the fridge?

Actually most GU10 lamps are also MR16 lamps

MR16 lens GU10 holder are normally 240volt
MR16 lens GX5.3 holder are normally 12volt

No, no, no, I wanted to get in on the trend for downlighters, dimming is just a bonus!
