I have a bunch of Downlights that are being installed inside a ceiling that has rockwool insulation. Lights are insulation coverable.

The lights have very strong springs but when I slide them in, the light is loose and hanging from the ceiling. I’ve cleared insulation out of the way and don’t understand why this is happening. Especially, when the springs feels so stiff.

I am assuming this is a common issue and you may have some advice.

Here are pics of one light that has gone in fine and another that is not sitting snug.

Thanks in advance.

Make sure the area around the cutout is clear of any debris inside, also check the spring clip is not hitting a joist and also check the height of the spring clip which you may be able to adjust by moving it up or down on the side of the fitting

Wire them using flex, not T&E. Prop the insulation up so it's not resting on the light

Sometimes it's caused by the plasterboard not being completely even as the backing paper can get a little "torn" when the holes are cut.

Common causes may include:
1) Springs not fitted properly, or bent.
2) Hole size in ceiling too big.
3) Ceiling thickness too thin.
4) An obstruction in the way.

Whatever will that achieve?
Something tells me that our friend Jupe uses 1.5mm cable for lighting. That could be his basic problem.
BUT
If he has downlights with the alternate type of fixings ( inside the hole rather than On top of the plasterboard) then he may be misunderstanding how to fit them.
That’s why I’ve asked for a picture of a downlight.

Also...1.5mm t & e not as flexible obviously and can sometimes stop the downlight from seating properly as it is pushing down on the fitting

Hmm. That’s what the problem might be.
That’s the basis of my post. Sorry it wasn’t obvious enough for you.

Was obvious to me....but not obvious to OP.... maybe just use plain English and not as many words as you can to explain something so simple

Long spring tail goes inside hole.
The short spring tail stays on ceiling surface. Push

Ok, so show us a picture of the securing clips on one of the lights.
Sorry for the delay. Here are some pictures. I have followed the manufacturers advice on cut out size and got very neat cuts using the bosch hole saw and arbor kit.
