Dpc not sticking

Might be a daft question but when you lay a mortar bed and put the dpc on and smooth it down, is it meant to adhere to the mortar?

Next day I found it just lifts off. Is that normal?

Where do you think it will go once a couple of tons of brickwork are sat on it?

Obviously no where. It’s just I’m laying before a BCO inspection and wanted to make sure it’s ok like that.

It's shrinkflation. Customers don't like price increases, so something has to give.

Yes mortar is not really glue and has no strength in tension, hence the need for large aggregate to lock together. Also for rebar.

Mortar is only used to keep the bricks apart, not together.
