Wondered if anyone might be able to give us some ideas on how to remedy ants/roots coming up through the DPM between where our conservatory floor meets the existing wall. We moved into the house recently and realised a few weeks ago that there's been ants in the conservatory. After pulling up the floor we noticed there's roots and probably 20 generations of ants coming up through some gaps where some electrics seem to run. I've found where the roots are coming in, removed it and filled from the outside but is there anything to fill these gaps?

You could mastic it, or mix kiln dried sand with cement and pour it in, after wetting it.

If the gaps are too small for that, and you think it might break up, then make a mortar fillet around the perimeter. ie, a raised triangle of mortar. Couple of bags of ready mixed stuff would sort it.

The roots will continue to grow unless you kill them, and the plant they are coming from.

Likewise for the ants, they will always find a way in unless you eradicate them or make it unpleasant for them to use those routes
