Merry Crimbo for when it arrives!

Occasionslly i make built in wardrobes, ive always formed the drawer boxes using 18mm MR MDF sides back and front with a 12mm ply base rebated into the sides and front.

The method works until bigger drawers are required then i feel they become heavy and harder to slide in and out.

Does anybody make drawer boxes from scratch and is willing to share their method please?

Thank you.

Thank you,

Are you saying 12mm sides and back rebated for 6mm ply? I

I use Klug heavy duty ball bearing runners on all drawers I make.
drawer boxes 12mm mdf 5.5x6.35mm rebated 5.5mm base [ply or mdf]pinned and glued with solid pine fronts
the runners are 2x1 top and bottom so 1 more than boxes so you have a 21mm bearing surface so with a 5mm each side to allow for clearance and variation the base is always part off the bearing surface

the sides are 2x1 frames infill with txg"V" groove 6.35x6.35mm rebate giving a flush inside face with a rebated 5.5mm ply back and solid pine top
the chest off drawers i am looking at the boxes are 38.5x18.5x5.5" around 25 year old
the number off drawer boxes will exceed 1000 over the years 95% are country style pine carcasses
