Hi.
The following plan states that I need to build a pier from 4inch solid concrete block to sit, my steel on surley it is sufficient to knock a pocket out of the solid wall(which is a party wall) and place a passion and sit the steel on that.
Or am I reading the info wrong.

It doesnt say that, it just is a calculation about a beam resting on a wall. Does that wall description match what the party wall is made of? You need to clarify with the se what they intended.

Go back to whoever you paid for all this, ask him to explain things, and if need be tell him to design to what you want not what some computer output says.
