Drawings for Planning Permission

To answer your initial question - if you know the layout your thinking of getting permission for then it shouldn't be hard to create some decent plans that would be more than adequate for planning.

Download Google Sketchup - you should be able to use that to do accurate drawings!

Or just get a plan drawer as previously suggested!
