Reason- Sockets in skirt

Problem- 100 year old lincrusta

Problem- Client wants minimum fabric damage

Solution- Dremel with 38mm cutter, sharpe chisel and patience

Time- About 20 minutes a box. With sub floor re wiring and making a rod route between box and sub floor still required.

Surface box and trunking 5mins :)

So how exactly have you drawn the cable up?

Did the other room a few months back. The sub floor is a crawl about 3ft of room height.

The new cable route will be easy up to the old in skirt sockets and from there the route to new position is just a careful knockout of plaster. When the house was plastered the plaster line stops about 25mm below the top lip of the skirt. A minute or two's worth of digging plaster out and the route will be complete.

Any plans for the holes in the skirting board?

They holes in the skirt will be lost via an infill lump of wood with hard as nails buttered around both the wood and skirting internal 'sides'.

A screw in the infill wood (used as a positioning handle) allows the infill wood to be lined up to a perfect match to the face of the skirt. Then it's wood filler, rub down and decorate.
The holes will disappear and it's just a case of being a bit 4nal with the finishing.

As to why bother ?

Due new wood flooring which will add 25mm to floor height (with underlay) and anyway sockets in skirts is wrong and the plug leads have been strained doing so. Turning them upside down is something I'd refuse to do !

The house value is circa £650k and they pay OTT for me to not be a slash and bash merchant.

How will you extend the wires or will you run new ones or have I missed something simple?

I'll run completely new cable, at the moment the ring is half harmonized with a long tail crimped below the floor which has enough length to be pulled to the 1st of the new fittings for this segment of the work.

Keep watching he'll get it right, in the end - maybe... Vernier caliper at 1:08 ffs !!
Seems to contain dust pretty well... or does it?

:D :D
