My husband would like a set of drill bits for his birthday. He has a bosch drill & is not a huge DIY fan, he just about manage to put up the odd shelf ect  . Can anyone recommend a good drill set at a reasonable price.

try B&Q they have some reasonable diy sets

most common things the diyer needs isa selection of 5 to 7mm masonry bits, HSS bits 3mm up to around 12mm and a few wood bits of similar size

As with most things, the more you pay the better quality you'll get.
Stay away from the 500 odd piece kits for around £20 as they are awful!
If he's just putting up shelves and stuff, i'd get 5mm, 6mm, 7mm and 8mm masonry bits, and maybe a 'set' of hss steel bits from 1mm to 10mm.
Should cost no more than £25 for that lot

screwfix do an erbaurer set of cobalt drill bits, which i think are a very good set for the price iirc they cost £25.
