I have recently replaced a carpet in a bathroom with slate floor tiles. I used to have a door stop and want to replace this to make sure the door handle doesn't hit the wall.

Any advise on drilling the floor tiles would be appreciated as i don't want to crack a tile.

Hi icemaiden,

I assume they have been fixed well with the correct adhesive and also grouted.

Once the grout is set a masonry drill bit on a slow speed to start the hole off will do the job. You can fix a couple of layers of masking tape over the tile first and mark that rather than the tile, then drill throught the masking tape....
.... this will prevent your drill skidding all over the floor

Slate is a fairly soft natural material so it won't be too difficult.

If you want get a arrow head tile drill bit, but it's really not necessary :D
