What type of power drill is best for drilling through porcelain tiles? Or is it the drill bit thats important?

Should I try with my cordless 18v 3.0amp Makita drill with perhaps some Tungsten Carbide masonary drill bits? Or should I be using something else?

It's the drill bit that is important, you need a diamond drill bit for those tiles, pop into somewhere like Tile Magic they will stock them

Thanks. Ive just noticed these plasplug diamond drill bits, are they any good?

Yes I used one of the 25mm ones to run some pipes through tiles it worked well.

For smaller holes, use the arrow/heart shaped things. You need to keep those diamond drill bits cooled with water if you want them to last a decent amount of time.

You may find it easier to stop the drill bit skating all over the tile if you stick some masking tape on the tile and drill through that
