My handyman was using black screws for a gate they built and when I asked, said they prefer drywall screws as they bite really well and are more rust resistant.

I'm about to build some raised beds from gravel boards and all my screws are turbo gold... Would it be better to get a box of drywall?

Get turbo cold exterior screws (though they are silver nowadays) or use decking screws, you can get in green, grey or brown usually.

Decking screws have a coating that is garunteed for 25 years or something. When new builds are built they have to last a certain amount of time.

Drywall screws aren't really the correct size for most timber jobs, they do have some rust resistance, but is only the same as normally coated zinc screws etc. They are nothing special

I don't know why I didn't think of decking screws, that sounds perfect. Thanks.
