Can anyone tell me if I'd contravine any regulations if run the the earth outside up a wall, and held with cleats and also cover the earth cable with black self amalgamating tape for asthetics?

Cleats?

Clips.......with nail plugs if required.

It can be run outside, with protection if prone to damage. Otherwise just clipped direct is fine.

You could paint it once done. I wouldn't bother trying to wrap in tape.

I assume a standard domestic install? 10mm earth from main earth terminal inside or alongside consumer unit to a clamp placed within 600mm of the gas meter, on hard pipe, and before any tees.

yep i meant clips :D & yes domestic 10mm install
had a look at the conduit.. not really struck on the way it looks.

I would use conduit - if it's painted or sleeved there's too much chance someone will think it's a TV or phone cable that's not used, and cut it.

Its bonding, not earthing.

Please also note that you may need to run a larger cable than 10mm² if the bonding conductor is not protected and/or it is buried.

Conduit = protected

Clipped to a wall = not protected

You think that self-amalgamating tape unevenly spiral-wrapped round it will look better than a smooth, straight, uniform circular tube?

OK.

Just because you've also read the title of the topic and not just the content of the first post there's no need to be a smart *rse.

Where's my coat?

Strange, isn't it, how this:

black self amalgamating tape for asthetics?
That's an oxymoron.

What about round black PVC conduit?

Got a thumbs down, but this:

was deemed perfectly OK.

Would the person who voted my post down care to provide a rational justification, or shall we all just take it that there's another pathetic and immature idiot on the loose, giving thumbs down to anything I write for reasons of personal animosity?

If conduit is straight and tacked near a down pipe, say, then it become virtually invisible. Don't tape up the bonding wire, it will not look good because with the best will in the world, doing things like that by hand, tends to look c**p. Also, if it is in direct sunlight, or even if we get a hot summer, it will peel and become a horrible black sticky piece of licorice! IMO that is!
