this borders on racist.

as for having 17th edition and 2330 1 and 2 a chimp with a pencil could pass it and this is your profesion and all the qualifications are to say that i am competent!! hahaha

all i asked was how do i go about fixing what i had and earth rod to an earth block outside the cu was an easy solution everything else was not important just so anyone could understand WHY i was even looking at the Cu and for my trubles i have done more typing in 4-5 days than i have in my life hahaha

its not the first time i have had to defend a simple question on here you cant say a word without being ripped up by sparkys trying to big themselves up instead of giving friendly advice..

If i knew then what i know now i would have told the person asking to phone united utilitys and say they have seen tar leaking from the cut out and the is no earthing and someone would be out to them in 3 hrs and put a new one in, because in the words of the jointers that came its as old as god and you need a new one and you must have an earth provided SIMPLE!!!!!! BUT NOOOOO!

I even asked if i could work for anyone for FREE to gain experience on site and got an new ass hole for my trouble.lol

good luck guys i wish you all the best but i would stop copying quotes and moaning about newbies and use your computer for what it was designed for PORN xx

If you had done what was asked in posts 2 and 3 - or at least described it if a picture was not possible - then I am sure that would have been the first thing you would have been told.

This is not about an NVQ its just circumstances around the board change.
Changing a CU is not something you are in any way ready to do.

it does have an eath but its wrapped round a incoming water main and crewed to the outside of the cu with no link to the earth block..
THEN IT DOESN'T HAVE AN EARTH, DOES IT.

the bonding is in the earth block but main earth is screwed to the cu...
Do you actually know what bonding is?

If not, why do you think you should be changing CUs?

I am very new at this and some things i am only just learning but AGAIN CU aside!!!!
No - not aside. You are very new and are only just learning, and right now you are too new and too ignorant to be changing a CU, and going ahead with one to present for an assessment of your capabilities is a stupid idea.

what would you do with the earthing would you put in rod or have the cut out replaced.
How would replacing the cutout help?

or is there a way to incorp the earth into the cutout???
You tell us.

You think that you're capable of replacing a CU and having it assessed to demonstrate your competence, so that must mean you know how the different supply earthing systems work.

im sure someone is on here who isn't just out to look like mr big balls who nows everything and could actually have some good advice..
Here's some good advice:

Spend some time learning the foundations before diving into work you are not equipped to do.

just looked through a few of the comments some of you have put on other peoples posts, guys you should chill out a bit you didn't start life knowing everything
No, but I expect most of us kept track of what we knew and stuck to work which was within the scope of it.

and remember the guy who installed this called himself a electrician and he could have been any one of you.
I doubt he could have been any of us.

I have no doubt that he was a bit like you - thought he knew far more than he actually did.

I wont be installing the CU it will be a qualified electrician and i will be assisting so calm down guys
for my portfolio he will take pictures of me installing and testing and commission so he wont be looing at the earthing just would be good to have it sorted b4 i change the board.
Try to keep your stories straight...

I have 17th ed
2330 level 1 and 2
But you don't know what the regulations say about using a water pipe for an earth.

You don't know how earthing and bonding should be connected.

You don't know how the different DNO supplied earthing systems work.

You don't think that the lack of an earth should be a bar to replacing a CU.

You don't think that any of these issues should be of any concern to someone when they are being assessed for an NVQ3.

Unbelievable.

its done had it fitted today thanks for all your help or lack of!!
So on Saturday your cutout looked like this:

and by Sunday evening it looked like this:

How did you manage that?

Will the DNO guys here confirm that that's normal service in the Manchester area, or will they too suspect you're a troll?

some of the jargon used is not my strong point i have a memory like a gold fish.
Then you're not cut out to be an electrician.

NVQ3 on the way I know you guys hate the thought of that hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha see you on site xx
And we'll see your customers here in the future making exactly the same sort of complaints about your work as you made about somebody eles's work here: //www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=2050620#2050620

It's not really your fault - you're too thick to realise that your lack of understanding, your lack of ability to understand technical terms, and your lack of ability to retain things you've supposedly learned mean that your choice of career was a serious mistake.

The real fault lies with a system which has allowed you to get this far despite your blindingly obvious inadequacies. As you say, and so ably demonstrate
as for having 17th edition and 2330 1 and 2 a chimp with a pencil could pass it

It's the same system which allowed the guy you were moaning about to end up being able to pretend to be an electrician and rip you off.

I really, really hope you crash and burn big time doing your 2391, not because I want to big myself up, but because it might stop you from screwing up other peoples installations.

Sorry shed but you are a tool I never said that an earth around a water pipe was an ok earth just that when tested with my alpha tech the sockets were earthed thru the bonding aswell as the water pipe. I never planned my self to change the cut out in any way. I know the earth needed clamping or sweating to the cut out. This wouldn't be my 1st board change i'm always supervised and I watch and learn from every cu change but never come across an earthing like mine. Everything I needed to know was explained at work today and the cutout done on sunday I know why I was getting an earth loop reading from the socket. I don't need to be schooled by u thanks on tns tncs or tt or on what an nvq consists of or what I'm doing wrong in your opinion in the price of fish you had nothing to contribute in a positive way and going back over some of the quotes u put on other peoples posts feelings are much the same as mine. I'm tapping away these msgs on my phone and its hard to get my point across but I could do a picture of my nvq when I get it if it makes u feel better?? Carry on the quotes tho it impresses me I hope being a sparky make u happy

Jesus I've never been so motivated to pass my 2391 only to shuv it down you eagertisticval throat! Yes that was done on sunday obviously I can't prove it except with that picture. The guy who did the bonding must have know that it was wrong that was my point even I know that its wrong I wasn't saying it was right or that it should be left permenently u woppa. But I couldn't change what was there could I.
Its funny because I found out how to get it changed by reading a post on here where the guy slatted you for your copy quote boaring I'm right and the world is wrong and no one should be a spark but me cos I'm so wonderful I can lick my own vagina yaakkkk. It doesn't mater how I do the job ill be safely isolating I have loads of backuo and ill learn from my mistake the way all traineea do so feel free to rip up some quotes and boar me further cos I promis I will never give up if you want me to change my font size to make u feel like we are having a grown up chat I can do

I can't all I asked for was help.he could of should of said get lost and its just getting good he may smite me soon

Will the DNO guys here confirm that that's normal service in the Manchester area,

If the report we get is: -

If i knew then what i know now i would have told the person asking to phone united utilitys and say they have seen tar leaking from the cut out and the is no earthing and someone would be out to them in 3 hrs and put a new one in, because in the words of the jointers that came its as old as god and you need a new one and you must have an earth provided

Yes this is what would happen in any part of this DNO's area.

Though the OP should pay attention as it has not been United Utilities for 12 months

You are right he did say they have changed a few times they are eletricity north west or the other way around.
Very nice guys he was telling me about guys he works with doing spikes and melting clothing and getting burnt I watched him change the cut out LIVE amazing stuff, he fitted the earthing for me and had a brew even the kids liked him.

So if any one needs an earth fitting you should as the dno I suppose or your supplier I read on the interweb lol

I understand what you said about opening the cutout but I didn't open it sorryi didn't cut the seal it was already done but with boxes an stuff infront of it I've not looked at it since we moved in here I just thought it might help with finding out why it didn't have an earth. But good advice, I think level three will focus on types of systems its not really been covered yet in great detail. But thanks again

Sorry shed but you are a tool
You're finding that the unpleasant truth hurts, aren't you.

Well, tough luck - it's not possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.

I never said that an earth around a water pipe was an ok earth
the earthing goes under the floor and is wrapped arroud a lead pipe
at the moment it does have an eath
it does have an eath but its wrapped round a incoming water main and crewed to the outside of the cu with no link to the earth block..

There's no such thing as a not OK earth. If it's not OK, it's not an earth.

just that when tested with my alpha tech the sockets were earthed thru the bonding aswell as the water pipe.
And your Ze reading was......?

I know the earth needed clamping or sweating to the cut out.
Oh, so you knew that you officially had a TN-S supply, did you?

This wouldn't be my 1st board change
The plan is to install a 17th ed board n test it ... for my portfolio he will take pictures of me installing and testing and commission ... would be good to have it sorted b4 i change the board.
it would have been a good place to do a board change
I wont be installing the CU
Yup - you've got the memory of a goldfish - you can't remember from one post to the next what story to tell.

but never come across an earthing like mine.
FFS - is there no way to get through to you that you did not have any earthing?

Everything I needed to know was explained at work today
Everything you needed to know was explained to you ages ago when you were doing your previous courses.

I don't need to be schooled by u thanks on tns tncs or tt
Well you need to be schooled on it by somebody.

Although you'll probably leave it lying in the box labelled "jargon which is not my strong point".

The guy who did the bonding must have know that it was wrong
Why must he?

You thought you had an earth - what do you know about bonding?

that was my point even I know that its wrong
What? Your bonding or your earthing?

I wasn't saying it was right or that it should be left permenently u woppa.
What wasn't right, or shouldn't be left permanently? The earthing or the bonding?

But I couldn't change what was there could I.
Why not?

What couldn't you change? The bonding or the earthing?

cmossom, what is your first language? Is it English?

this borders on racist.
Nonsense.

Given your obvious problems with English, for example
Jesus I've never been so motivated to pass my 2391 only to shuv it down you eagertisticval throat!
(care to explain how all your mistakes are due to the inadequacies of a phone?) his question was a reasonable one, as it would help to know what allowances to make, not racist at all.

But this, on the other hand...
i am white english born and bread
