I have an Eaton I-ON40-H+ keypad alarm system.

I tend not to set the alarm in night time mode when going to sleep because the arming beep sound is so loud for 30 seconds that it would probably wake up my elderly mother and kids.

I’ve asked the installer to both reduce the arming time from 40 seconds to 30 and to reduce the sound of the arming tone which he has done but it’s still fairly loud.

My questions are:

1. Do most people with alarms arm it in night mode?

2. What is the average length of time most installers set to arm an alarm (what’s the correct term for the 30-40 seconds of single tone that it takes?)

3. Is it possible to change the sound of the night mode arming to a single beep or 1-2 second two tone sound whilst still arming for 30 seconds silently?

1 Varies, but yes.
2 Setting time is usually around 30 seconds, depends how the system is programmed, you can have set on final door, also instant set in part.
3 With most/all systems you can have silent part set etc, for the reasons you suggest, people already asleep etc, that is a programming issue that requires addressing.

So there is a night mode it sees and it silently arms but because I’m in the ground floor landing next to the panel as soon I set it it and walk away it triggers the 30 sec count down. I presume this just needs to be programmed to either exclude the landing when setting or increase the timer?

If it’s the same as previous scantronic/ Eaton panels then it should have …normal/ low tone or silent setting modes ….i would get your installer back
