My 5+ year old ebac fridge freezer decided to trip our RCD at about 11:30 this morning when we were all out. The FF lives in the unheated consevatory and I have checked the cable for damage as far as I can and have about 75 kOhms between live or neutral and earth.

Q1. Is it worth trying to fix it or get it fixed (it is our newest FF)?
Q2. Where is the fault likely to be? Compressor? Capacitor? Frayed cable somewhere?

Difficult..

If it's dropping the breaker, could really be anything.
Compressor for example could have shorted.

Depends how competent you are, but you could try disconnecting items one by one.
Example, disconnect the live and neutral to the compressor and see if it still trips. If not, then comp likely failed. If it still trips, start to check for a damaged / worn cable / wires touching either live or neutral around the system.

You could also remove the compressor relay and check the terminals to earth.
If it does turn out to be the compressor, don't bother to get it repaired - not worth the cost against replacing the f/f.

I just had a look in the back and found that the connector thingy on the compressor seem to have cooked itself. The terminals for the capacitor have got pretty hot, judging by the state of the silicone covers on the spade connectors. There appears to have been some kind of rectangular ceramic rod and a fair bit of grease in there at some time but this has all broken down. I have pictures, if it helps.

Is it possible to get a new one of these connectors? What are they called? Where could I get one? It has all the electrical connections on the rectangular bottom section and a circular thing at the top (thermal trip?).The only markings are on on the circular thing - "B52-120".

You'll probably find that the main difference is overload rating though its possible the spacing is different on the connection to the compressor.

Compressors vary in LRA rating.

Load Rated Amps.
What is the LRA on the compressor label?

It's a jiaxipera ZBS1115CY, 105W, 0.50A according to the label. I guess that the ES1247943 would be the right one(?)

Sorry - that link shows me a Samsung relay from a German site. It doesn't look anything like my burnt-out component?

Yeah sorry about that, was only paying attention to part numbers.

Problem is your make is not listed in the fitment list and technical details are not provided for this part on that website.

Look closer at your relay to see if there is a part number printed on the side of it.

I get the same relay as yardie for your compressor.
What is the model number of the fridge?? - it's a rebadged Samsung.

@yardie It says "QP3-12A" and, underneath, "Ed J". On the round bit, it says "B52-120" (it might say more but it's not visible). Like I said, I don't know if it is an "eSpares" ES1247943, ES1645527 or ES1678949 as they all look the same! I have found one Russian certification document containing these numbers and an unavailable Amazon listing for the QP3-12A. Also, there is/was a Chinese outfit selling it with a 4uF capacitor (which I have in my FF). I'll wait a bit longer to see if I get any joy from Ebac and then I might just guess... What's the worst that can happen? - I'll spend twenty quid blowing up an unrepairable fridge!!

@fender I'll take another look but it's totally different! I was thinking that it might have been a rebadged Beko... I cant find a model number, just a sticker saying "17 GN311WINGMK.WING / 03 EBAC / 08 UK(IND)A" and a barcode underneath.
