Ebay Feedback warning

longdogs

I've been a member of Ebay for some years now but never really used it too much. Recently I have been having a clear out and have sold a few items successfully.

However, one item which a member bid for and won, has never been paid for. After trying to contact them and opening an unpaid case with Ebay, still nothing happened. Eventually I decided to close the case and re-list the item.

Now I find that it is not possible to leave negative feedback for a buyer (apparently this came into effect five years ago). So basically, the buyer f****d me about for almost a month but still has a 100 per cent positive feedback score. Well obviously, if no one can leave a negative comment.

What's the point of having a feedback score if you can't be honest about it?

Just wanted to warn anyone selling on Ebay that you can't trust them to protect you.

The customer is always right
I know what you mean as i have over 2,000 feedbacks and have had quite a few non payers. You have to take it on the chin & move on.
I have also recently had buyers not wanting to sell me the goods as they havn't got what they thought they were going to get.Twice i have bought ridge tiles for 99p only to be ignored on the address for pick up.

ps: I sold old & rare football programs.

You can leave negative feedback but you have to explain why before Ebay allow it.

You can't leave negative feedback on the buyer any more.

And guess what? If the winner decides he wants the thing and I have sold it, he can leave negative feedback for me.

As suggested, it's best to just move on but I can't see the point of having feedback in the first place.

I had a spate of selling specialist engineering measuring tools that were now of no use to me.

Got to admit the feedback system is seriously flawed unlesss you want to leave AAA++++ type comments.

I sold stuff to Australia, New Zealand, Spain, Italy (eek!!) Holland and others. The only problems I had with a purchaser, they lived in Cumbria. Its amazing how a bit of pm'ing between buyer/seller can alleviate problems.

I made an offer for a pair of RayBans for £25, I didn't win, everything screamed fake but I was offered as runner up as winner had reneged, so I coughed up. Never received them.
Response from seller was "don't worry, eBay will give you your money back". Hope they chased the bar steward for all the non delivery to runners up he never made (my assumption).

You fell for the biggest scam on Fleabay.

The only way to leave a neg feedback is give the green light and put your neg alongside it, i always, always check the feedback as people can leave the neg without it being obvious unless you read.

In other words check their feedback, they can still be called a

The feedback system was changed because it didn't work properly, but it's not really much better now.

With the old system, the seller wouldn't add their feedback, until the buyer had posted theirs. This meant that even some buyers who had suffered shoddy goods or service were reluctant to post bad feedback, as the sellers were then likely to do the same as revenge. This meant that the buyer often got negative feedback, although they had done nothing wrong.

At least now, buyers can leave negative feedback, without the worry of losing out themselves. Problem is, now you get situations like Squeaky's.

Not anymore!

Happened to me when I've sold my conservatory for £720, the winner didn't bothered replying to any of my email and ebay would not let me sell it to the 2nd highest bidder until 3 weeks period is over. You cannot leave any feedback but ebay punish the winner with a point against them, get a maximum 3 points then they're banned from ebay but pretty useless because the points system is wiped off after so many weeks so it's a waste of time

I has 138 watchers and 17 people bidding for it which is not fair on them, in the end I smashed the conservatory down because time was running out for my new one

Ebay is full of ****s both buyers and sellers. I treat everyone with high suspicion.

Remember and never accept a Paypal payment if the item is to be collected in person. If the item is being collected only cash is acceptable. If it is to be posted only Paypal can be used and you must send it recorded or courier so a signature is made.

I would rather deliver it myself than let an ebay mouthbreather know where I live though.

Exactly, just put NEGATIVE FEEDBACK in capitals and then a brief sentence, most of the time it will get read

Possibly, but people tend not to read pages of feedback, they look at the positive figure. Besides, if the seller/buyer is a frequent transactor your feedback soon gets pushed out of site.
