Hi all, our boiler been working fine then i came home yesterday and it had gone out. it would. nt lite until i turned the fire out upstairs then it lit until the middle of the night some time then went out and wont light again with error code 3. Flame failure. I dont think the gas pressure has dropped as I put the gas fire on full and all the cooker jets on full and they seem ok. any Idea's what I should check first . many thanks. Jimbo.

ps wife got it to lite for a few second's then went out.

Can you repeat the situation of only getting the boiler to light with the fire off?

If that is really the case you could get National Grid to check the pressure at the meter. Thats free!

But I expect that you have not bothered to get your boiler serviced?

yes your right. we not been in this house long. I've got it to work. I took the igniter and the flame sensor out and they had light brown soot on them. I cleaned them and its fired up. I'm just heating the house and water up then I'm going to clean it out. It looks like it needs one looking through the flame view window.. O and the fire is on and had cooker on to.
Thanks all

The brown dust has no effect.

The spark gap should be about 3-4 mm though.

Only an RGI should be touching those though!

Hi. It failed to ignite over night so I set the gap to 3.5 mm from 2mm that it was and it been working fine since. thanks for the info.
