Thanks, will play safe and bin it. I have bought a new one, just don't like throwing useful things away (see my slogan)
 
But you aren't throwing something useful away - you are throwing something useless (and possibly dangerous) away.


I assume that the first thing you did was to ask the maker what the flashing light meant and whether you could get any replacement parts to fix whatever the problem was?
 
I partly answered that.

You can't get replacement controllers anymore.
But it should be possible to get a new blanket at a reduced price. (I did a year ago).
