We have an electric garage door that keeps opening by itself.

Basically its operated without a remote control by a box with a push button switch.
The switch started to play up so I replaced it and it works fine when pressed.
However, every now & then it opens by itself for no reason.

Ive checked the new switch and it seems fine. Ive checked the wires to the switch and nothing it shorting out.
I can't do anything to replicate the problem while I am there, but leave it alone and sure enough the door is open after a few hours.

Ive no idea what it can be

thanks, G

dampness on the circuitry ??

does it have a remote control and where is it in relation where the remote control lives??
thinking accidental activation :?: :?:

Cheers for that.

the remotes are hidden in a drawer but it might be an idea to let the circuit box air out for a while.

Is this push button outside or inside? You mention letting the box air for a while so presumably outside.

My vote is for meddling kids!

Ive checked everything. The remotes are hidden in a drawer, the box is inside the garage and dry.

Ive changed the push switch but the situation is getting worse daily & we ahve had to disconnect the power as its opening & closing all the time on its own.

I can only think the control box is knackered and needs replacing.

There are no markings on the box as to who made it etc and the firm who supplied it many years ago have gone out of business.

I can see replacement boxes online but unsure which to get.

At present the mains supply goes into the box and then other wires come out to the motor of the door.
Do the door motors all run on the same voltage??

Thanks

Disconnect the push.

Does it still open?

Disconnect the push cable from the unit.

Does it still open?

Take batteries out of remotes.

Does it still open?

Post pictures so we can see it.
