Electric Gate tripping RCD on close

Recently started having issues with it tripping the RCD when the gate is closing, only appears to happen when the temperature outside is above 15 degC (never happens on a cold day) I've replaced the RCD with no luck, motor capacitor has been tested and is all gd. Photocells have been inspected, one did have water ingress but cleared that. Starting to think the motor has gone bad, what else can I try.

I have looked a few times at your post, to trip only on close points to a switch/sensor which is only active when closing. And temperature points to water inside some unit, which turns to a vapour when warm.

After the Manchester child death with an electric gate, most electricians stopped working on them, and consider them as a specialist field. And sensors/cameras were added to stop a repeat of the tragedy. Since old trips on closing seems likely some thing to do with sensor/camera to stop anyone being trapped.

I would have thought the sensors are operating in both directions, it seems there is no reason for them not to, But I don't know. I assume it is the same motor/actuator to drive in both directions and a winding is simply reversed. Is there a limit switch(s) within the motor/actuator that you've missed?

Sensors are extra low voltage from the controller so these wouldn’t cause that issue …..is it a single leaf or double ? What make is the controller ?

Cable to the motor is damaged,
one or more of the motor connections has water in it,
control board has a fault
there is water/slugs/snails/spiders on the control board which can include the back of it where you can't see just by looking at the front.

Slug welded on back of pcb is a common issue …

A lot of my work has been in 'controls' and many of the actuators have built in end limit switches which are connected directly in-line with the motor supply. These are in addition to the ELV sensors. I have only had experience of one electric gate, some 15 years ago, and that certainly had motor limit switches and the reason for my attention as the gate was not fully closing.

I know not how typical that installation was at the time, nor currently.

Thanks for the replies, I'll take a look on the rear of the controller for any foreign objects, the controller is housed within a IP rated housing but you never know what has managed to creep its way in.
