HI peeps - help needed

My girl wants to order a new oven online (hotpoint) but i'm conserned
about the power of it. We emailed the supplier to find out the wattage
and the blunt reply was 30amp. now my electronic knowledge has drifted since school but am I right in thinking that 230volt mains AC multiplied by 30amp = round about 7000(w) for the power or is that just bull. LOL

The old oven is plugged direct into a normal plug socket and I think its a 13amp fuse so my question is ¬ Will this big beefer 30 amp oven be ok to plug into a normal socket or does it need its own ring power.

Thanks for any help about this

i think you know the answer to that.

Do you have the model number of the oven you want to purchase? post it here, we might be able to track it down, I'd advise you to take what the sales people told you with a pinch of salt and try and obtain the answer form a more reputable source

Took me only a few minutes to go to www.hotpoint.co.uk, find the brochure for built-in appliances, open it, search for SY36 and find the power consumption.

DIYing can be very rewarding - you should try it.

Has any one else noticed the trend to NOT include ratings on cooking appliances, at least not without searching high and low.
Product listings rarely include wattage.

Gives you a bit more of a challenge... :P

It's not hard to find out though. You can always call the manufacturer...

if they just say 30A it probablly means they have very little clue.
