Plumber fitted electric shower, the cable looks a bit close to the water feed, but I have no idea if that is right or not, see pic.

It's not currently connected to an RCD as fusebox is MK Sentry 1989 model , and is being replaced with an RCBO this week, then we will use the shower once that is done.

Does the general install look safe/OK?

Thanks in advance!

It’s not the tidiest install - so for you piece of mind get the sparks installing the new CU to inspect the circuit and connections thoroughly is my advice

CPC not fully sleeved

As above get spark to check , tightness . fault loop etc

The earth sleeve should cover the entire exposed bare copper earth wire. The shower is a 7.5Kw, fairly basic, low output, by modern standards. The RCD, should have been installed, before the shower was installed, not after.

Hopefully, your plumber has investigated the need for earth bonding?

Seems simple to connect but lots of mistakes are made

Type of things you see with plumbers and diy

- cpc probably not doubled back

- stranded live conducters twisted and inserted

- timebomb with connections not adequately tightened

I agree Harry thats what I would do but I thought you could just put a small piece on for identification purposes?

I think only a mad man would do that though :giggle:

Yeah, there was an excessive amount of silicone used on the outside, including the top right entry point cover had been broken off I believe, and siliconed over.
I am not overly happy to be fair, the plumber is returning back but I am not sure I trust them to do the job properly, I'd probably be better off asking the electrician when he comes to check it all and fix it all rather than the plumber, that said, im a few quid down if I do that.

A layer of silicone across the top is ok imo, stop water running down the back

Not all around as the back dissipates heat, probably a warranty fail anyhow

Installer said the Mira can be damaged as a result

Don’t know about Triton they’re generally superior to Mira im told

If it's a new shower, rather than a replacement for a failed one, then it is also notifiable.
