Engine making a noise.

Hello, I've just noticed a tapping/ticking sound from the engine. I'll add a picture as I've found where is coming from. There's a little round cap with made in USA on it and the noise stops of you just put a finger on it. Does anyone know what the thing is or any suggestions what can be done.

It looks like an idle control valve, but I could well be wrong.

This is an EGR exhaust gas recirculation vacuum solenoid valve.....if its chattering its faulty.
Not that expensive, around £20 I think.

Is it ok to drive until it's fixed? And any ideas where I can buy one?

Ebay or Amazon would be able to provide, no doubt but on the Nissan I did - which looked identical- it was a main dealer part.
You’ll see two pipes connected to this thing, and if you suck them there should be a restriction.

There is a second identical valve buried under all the vacuum pipes etc to the left top of your picture but it would take a little dismantling to get to. You could just swap them over to test but it is laughably common for them to buzz...
