Hi

I’m planning on laying a new wooden floor (engineered wood herring bone) on top of the old square parquet flooring, it’s solid under foot and level is there any reason that this wouldn’t be a good idea.

thanks

Are you gluing the wood down ? You should be if engineered parquet.
Is it a concrete sub floor ?
How old is the house ?

That’s because it’s breathing. If you cover they up and stop them breathing then they will become loose.
