Eu tariffs ...............What a disgusting edifice the EU is.

but my all-time favorite in the dumb tariff category has to be the 15 percent tariff on unicycles. One wonders which clown set that.

As usual, somebody has taken something totally mundane that nobody gave a flying fluck about for the last 40 years and is now throwing a snowflakesque tantrum about it - and who cares now that we're leaving?
If you are really interested in tariffs, which I suspect you aren't, this explains it:

Since June 2006, the regular import duty rate on bicycles entering the European Union (EU) from outside Europe is 14%. On all so-called “other” bicycles such as tricycles or unicycles and on bicycles without ball bearings the import duty is 15%. Source

So it's all about the ball bearings really. Fascinating, huh?

I am really curious though - why do you care about these tariffs all of a sudden? I thought the purpose of Brexit was to do away with it, not tell us about how it has been working for the last 40 years.

Nah, the info in that link must be wrong because it's the opposite of what Notch says. He'll be along in a minute to point out the error of your ways.

The article in that link is wrong because its total bollards......seriously fillyboy, do your research and stop regurgitating misinformation.

Almost all African nations get to export to EU with 0% tariff under the EBA -everything but arms initiative.
Some of the tariffs mentioned would not apply because of the GSP -generalised scheme of preferences

EBA means that the 49 of the world’s poorest countries can export products to the EU free of the tariffs that the article is attacking. The developing countries beyond the EBA are in GSP or GSP+. Bangladesh is a well known clothing producer – as an EBA country it has no duties or quotas on its clothing exports to the EU.
So the article is disingenuous by conflating tariffs intended for exports from rich countries whilst waving a flag for poor countries but failing to mention that the poor countries in the EBA see no such tariffs

Usual fake news written by a right wing, neo liberal think tank that gets its funding from big business including fossil fuel interests.

These think tanks all lead back to the same names.

Surprise surprise, they all connect to Tory donors and or Tory MPs.

I have a bad feeling that 'vested interests' will control the UK for the next 5 or possibly 10 years. I
wonder how much damage will be done in that time.

Well the IMF Boss criticised the growing inequality in the UK and Brexit will just exacerbate that.

These Brexiters will be crying in 10 years time when their car factories are wastelands, they can't afford to pay for private healthcare as their condition is not not covered on the NHS.

It will have a few winners and lot more losers. People will just accept it as the new normal and Brexiteers will accept it because it would be worse under the EU.

The eu is a failed experemint. You were conned and you fell for it hook, line and sinker.

Same old boring moaning nonsense from an embittered leftist anti democratic remoaner.
All hail brexit, trump and johnston.

Why don't you do something really really clever and worthwhile, why don't you dig up the figures for pay and wealth inequality in the UK, particularly the percentage in the pay difference between CEO's and employees in 1973, the year we joined the EU, and the same figures for today.

You won't do it will you?, because it will make you look stupid.

Dumbo again. The policies that have exacerbated this have been the neo liberal ones by the Gov, so thats 27yrs of Tory policies and counting.

Please tell me how the EU has increased income inequality in the UK.

I was right, you won't answer my very simple question, because you can't without appearing very very stupid.
Never mind.

Ad hom attack without responding to the point

In other words youve got no argument.

Oh by the way,:

The EU is the world's largest trading block. The EU is the world's largest trader of manufactured goods and services. The EU is the top trading partner for 80 countries. By comparison the US is the top trading partner for a little over 20 countries

Ryler interpretes that as a 'failed experiment' :ROFLMAO:

Seriously fillyboy, do your research.

You are accusing the EU of something that has been caused by the governments you have voted for and applaud

Look at the last 10 years. What has happened? Austerity and nasty policies by the Tory government have made the poor poorer, yet pay at the top has shot up.

Brexit will make inequality worse because in order to offset the economic damage, the country will become a low tax low worker protection economy.
