Exterior woodwork

My house has wooden boarded cladding which now need some maintenance. Do they need sanding first, or can I just paint preservative on them?

Depends on the condition of the wood but if its in good condition you could use something from the Sadolin range, most of which can be applied to sound surfaces without sanding.

Always wise to give a light sanding first though.

False economy when using on exterior, much better life from a decent product.
