Victorian Mid Terrace, solid walls, currently rendered on both sides. No damp issues internally at all, but the old render is cracking so figure it might be a good time to bump up that EPC, help the planet, etc.

Internet is full of articles saying either EWI helps avoid damp or contributes to it.

Thoughts?

ewi if its free on a warm homes scheme.
if not I wouldn’t go near it.

cost against benefit= farce.
slightly more feasible on a detached but still wouldn’t entertain it.
can’t stand the stuff.

I signed up through the government scheme to get it installed under the government subsidy, but it all fell through before I could get the funds in place.

As above, the payback period is pretty significant, like 15 years or summat.

For 2 walls, I would seriously look at DIYing internal insulation. Its a pain in the ar5e, but a lot cheaper, and much more diyable than external

Done correctly, ie a proper survey and suitable design, EWI is worth it and will realise significant increase in internal comfort and energy savings.
