Fan convectors - under kitchen units

Looking for some advice on fan convectors. My kitchen is about 3m x 4.5m and I don't have much wall space so I'm considering this as an option but the only ones I have come across in the past were quite old and I remember them being a bit noisy.

So my basic question is; are modern ones any good and is there anything to avoid?

Also, are there any models that can connect to 10mm systems? (this isn't absolutely necessary but would be helpful)

They are currently available.

I think they are marvelous but never fit them because people think they are goint to be too noisy. ( Perhaps about 54 dB/A at 1 m on full ? ) To me thats irrelevant as boiling kettles make a noise and listening to the radio makks any other sounds.

They can be fitted to 10 mm as long as the flow rate to the heater is adequate for the heat output. They are often 2-4 kW which is again very good as they give very rapoid heat up of the kitchen.

Thanks Tony. A bit more research and I've narrowed it to a Smiths Spacesaver SS5W or a Myson Kickspace 500. The Myson gives a noise rating of 27.2dB at 2.5 metres when running on normal speed. (i.e. not boost) The Smiths unit sounds good but does not give a dB rating so at the moment is 2nd in my list.

My understanding is that 27dB is very, very quiet - and as you say there is always background noise anyway. So this is looking like a goer at the mo.

The Myson kick space heaters are consider to be the best.

At 0100 hrs the background sound level in Salisbury outskirts was 29 dBA.

I dont believe that figure.

Don`t forget they run on electricity as well as from heating system, expensive, like electric underfloor heating.

Its only a small fan.
I got an ss5 and its virtually silent, definately doesnt bother me at all.

We have Myson Kickspace and it's very quiet indeed.

I believe the older ones were a tad noisier, a family member has one in his kitchen installed 5 years ago and ours is slightly quieter. Same output too.
