C'mon Give us a clue..............
Some have pull cord switched fan.
Without knowing the model you have it's difficult to say, theorectically you could split the light and fan and provide a secondary wall switch to turn fan on independently of the light.
Whats wrong with using the pull cord?

IF the unit has seperate switchwires for the fan & light, then yes, but you would need to rewire the switch drop.
That would be cool. But dont think many dimmers are rated for motor loads. I think one rated for wire-wound Tx's would do?
